Started by mothers in 2019 with a perspective of seeing every daughter as their own, the name "Sanjeevani" comes from the Sanskrit word meaning "life-restoring" or "that which imparts life." True to its name, the organization strives to breathe life into the dreams and aspirations of deserving girls, offering support for them to thrive.
The primary goal of Sanjeevani Sisters Association is to provide scholarships to underprivileged daughters with a vision to build the country from the roots. How? As Nepal is a developing country, changes must start from within the family. An educate daughter will one day grow up to be an educated mother, who will then educated her family, her community, and eventually her future generations will uplift the nation. Our mission is built with long term goals in mind.
Sanjeevani Sisters Association is operating under registration no. 4166 in Nepal as a non-profit organization.
We began with a simple idea: to help people in our community. We raised some money - minimum one lakh rupees - from thirteen members and deposited in the bank to get started. The first daughter we wanted to help was Uniya BK. She grew up with her mom working hard as a housemaid. Even though money was tight, Uniya dreamed of becoming a radiographer, and we wanted to support her dream.
Then COVID-19 hit and everything changed. Many people lost their jobs, especially those who worked manual labour. We shifted our focus to helping COVID-19 patients and those who lost their jobs. People in our community noticed our efforts and started supporting our hard work. Now, we're not just helping Uniya and others like her; we're also making sure that daughters in rural areas get the chance to go to school. We believe that education can make a big difference.
