COVID Rations to Vulnerable Communities

Sanjeevani Sisters Association Nepal Distributed Rations to Vulnerable Communities Amidst COVID-19 Challenges

On May 4th in Pokhara, the Sanjeevani Sisters Association organized a compassionate initiative, distributing free food, essential materials, and provisions to workers, disabled individuals, and members of the deaf associations. The ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic had particularly affected laborers and those with physical disabilities, prompting the Sanjeevani Sisters Center Nepal to step in and provide much-needed relief.

The relief program was made possible by the collective efforts and coordination of Mrs. Antim Gurung, who gathered a sum of Rs. 94,720 from the UK, along with an additional Rs. 26,000 raised in the name of the Sanjeevani Sisters Association Nepal. In total, an amount of approximately Rs. 1,21,000 was distributed to support those facing hardships during these challenging times.

Bina Gurung, President of the association, shared that the relief materials were distributed to a total of 66 individuals, including 30 disabled and single women, 20 individuals facing health challenges and deafness, and 16 families relying on labor for their livelihoods, all of whom have been significantly impacted by the lockdown measures implemented to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

During the relief distribution event, Milan Thapa, President of Radio Janani 90.6, highlighted their organization's commitment to providing free meals to struggling families for a week at Shree Ram Aadharbhut School in Pokhara. Additionally, they contributed 75 kg of rice to support the cause.

The event also saw Ramkali Khadka, Director of the Women's Skills Development Training Center, distributing masks prepared by her organization to all attendees. She pledged ongoing support from her center in the days ahead.

The relief distribution program was executed in coordination with Rudranath Baral, the ward chairman of Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 8, and Milan Thapa, the chairman of Radio Janani 90.6, reflecting a collaborative effort to address the immediate needs of the community during these challenging times.
