Kaski witnessed the completion of the inaugural annual general meeting and convention of Sanjivani Didi Bahini Center on Saturday. Established a year ago with the mission of providing education to daughters and daughters-in-law, the center held its first general meeting under the gracious presence of Kiran Gurung, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning of Gandaki Province.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Kiran Gurung emphasized the importance of social work in navigating the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He encouraged the Sanjivani Didi Bahini Center to continue their commendable work in the future. The state government pledged its support to the center in the days ahead. Special guest Saraswati Gurung, central member of Nepali Congress Central Policy Research and Training Institute, openly commended the center's efforts during the pandemic. She urged the center to persist in its multifaceted endeavors beyond the education of daughters and daughters-in-law.
In a different context, the Gandaki state government stressed the need to expedite COVID-19 treatment efforts. With the increasing number of coronavirus infections, the provincial government called for heightened caution in the treatment process.
Special guests, including General Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association Kul Bahadur Gurung, former Governor of Lions International District 325 B One Nepal Dhruv Thapa, Executive Director of International Mountaineering Museum Shankar Gautam, and scholarship recipient Union V.K. Laket, praised the organization's impactful work. The program, chaired by Bina Gurung, the president of the center, was conducted by Secretary Kaushila Gurung, and the guests were warmly welcomed by member Bimala Shrestha.
A special highlight of the program was the felicitation of Kul Bahadur Gurung, General Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association, who was elected as the General Secretary of the Mountaineering Association. The center honored him with a certificate of appreciation and a token of love. Additionally, the center acknowledged its lifelong members and associates during the event.
The first annual general meeting unanimously approved the annual progress report presented by Secretary Kaushila Gurung and the financial report submitted by Treasurer Lakshmi Gurung, marking a significant milestone in the center's journey of service and impact.
Upon returning to Pokhara from the UK, Jayanti Gurung Jule, the coordinator of Sanjivani Didi Bahini Center UK, contributed a total amount of Rs. 20,200 to the Gurung family, who are residing in Ward 8. Out of this, Rs. 5,000 was provided by Jayanti Gurung Jule herself, and the rest, amounting to Rs. 15,200, was collected through various contributions, including a heartfelt donation from an elderly mother expressing her wish for her son to study at the 'UK Alder's Gate School' in Gumba.
Yesterday, on the 7th of Asar, 2077, the amount was handed over to the affected Mangasingh Gurung through a check transfer. This generous act was coordinated by the Treasurer of Sanjivani Didi Bahini Center, Lakshmi Devi Gurung, under the leadership of President Bina Gurung and Secretary Kaushila Gurung. We express our sincere gratitude for this noble initiative and salute the Baba Aamas and other contributors in the UK who made this support possible.
